The eminence of this Divya Kshetram is highlighted by the fact that while performing our daily household rituals we specify place of location of our existence with reference to Srisailam. Srisailam Mountain is looked upon reverentially as the Kailash of South. The temple situated here is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is among the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. The temple sculptures narrate in stone, epics from the great Hindu epics-Ramayana and Mahabharata. It is believed that Shiva and Parvati visit Lord Mallikarjun place on Amavasya (No moon day) and (full Moon day) Pournami, respectively. Visiting this JyotirLinga not only blesses one with innumerable wealth, but also name and fame and fulfils all the desires. The destination for salvation and Mukti! The belief is that Goddess Durga had taken the form of a bee and worshiped Lord Shiva here and selected this holy place as her abode.
